Mixed Billing Policy Commencing 1 June 2025
Important Changes to our Fees & Billing Structure:
Commencing 1 June 2025 our practice is now operating as mixed billing. This means a private "out of pocket" fee may apply to you for your consultation. Please click here for more info.
Why is this change happening?
Mixed billing helps us to bridge the gap between the Medicare rebate and the actual cost of providing our services. Like many medical practices, we have been facing increasing operational costs, and this change will allow us to continue providing comprehensive, high-quality medical care, invest in necessary equipment and staff training, and maintain our commitment to serving our community. Whilst recent government incentives towards bulk-billing are welcomed, they alone cannot address the fundamental challenges facing our primary healthcare system. Please contact your MP to help modernise Medicare and increase the rebates after years of freezes and inadequate indexation. If you are currently experiencing financial hardship, please speak to your doctor, we appreciate your support during this time of change in Australia's healthcare system.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is mixed billing?
Mixed billing means that most consultations and services incur a fee, except for children under 16yo and Pension/Health Care Card holders who will continue to be bulk-billed for most standard consultations. A standard consult is $80 with a Medicare rebate of $43.90. Please note that all new patients and inactive patients (last visit >12 months) incur a fee for their initial consultation.
Will I receive a Medicare rebate?
Yes, for privately billed services, you will be eligible to claim the Medicare rebate. Our staff will process your Medicare claim electronically at the time of payment, and the rebate will typically be deposited into your bank account by Medicare within 24-48hrs.
